A healthy alternative to french fries, these carrot fries are the perfect side to compliment your dinner. Pairs well with any type of burger! A blend of spices takes these carrots from zero to hero and as an added bonus they are so easy to make.
Sometimes I just don’t want a french fry with my burger. Am I the only one or do you guys also prefer a healthier side sometimes? Regular potato french fries you get from the freezer aisle of the grocery store have all these hidden ingredients. Annatto color, dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate… My rule of thumb is, if I can’t pronounce it, I shouldn’t eat it. Seriously, what is sodium acid pyrophosphate and why is it being added to my french fries? Sure, there are some brands out there that claim to be all natural and good for you… but if you peek at their ingredients list, that’s not always the case. As consumers, we can get fooled by the marketing on the front of food packaging. A lot of items claim to be “healthy” “all-natural” or “carb-free.” Unfortunately that’s not always the case, it’s just really good marketing tactics. When we actually look at the nutrition info and ingredients label on the back of the package, it tells a whole different story.
Luckily, that’s not the case with these healthy carrot fries! These are delicious and made from ingredients you can pronounce. Sliced carrots, olive oil, and a mixture of spices you are guaranteed to already have in your pantry. These fries are so easy to make, you’re going to want them as a side to accompany all your favorite dinners.
Let me tell you how easy and delicious they truly are!
Ingredients for the Healthy Carrot Fries
Carrots: Sliced into ¼ pieces for the perfect crunch! Helpful tip: they come pre-sliced at the grocery store and are pretty cheap! I love getting the crinkle cut kind because they hold onto the spices better.
Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons to coat the carrot fries with so they get the best crunch.
Spices: A combination of salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and chili powder to pack a punch.
Kitchen Tools Needed for this Recipe
