These healthy greek inspired turkey burgers are a perfect weeknight meal that can be whipped up in under 30 minutes! Doctor up the boring plain turkey burger with a fun mix of Greek inspired ingredients for a burger you’ll want to make time and time again!

Turkey burgers without any added ingredients can be dry, boring, and bland. That’s why these healthy greek inspired turkey burgers are to die for! The combination of ground turkey with feta cheese, caramelized onions, mushrooms, chopped spinach, and pepperoncini peppers is a real winner!

These burgers are so juicy and flavorful you won’t even miss the fact that they’re not made with ground beef. Ground turkey is a very lean source of meat that’s high in protein, low in fat, and leaves you feeling full and satisfied. Since it is a very lean meat, it tends to dry out if cooked plain with no added ingredients. By adding in the veggies and feta cheese to the burger mix, this allows the flavors to mix together and ultimately give you a juicer burger.

Cooking these burgers is easy peasy. If you have a grill, just slap ‘em on there for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through to a temperature of 165° F. If you’re cooking them on a skillet, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil on medium-high heat and cook approximately 5-7 minutes each side until that 165° F temperature is reached. If you don’t have a food thermometer, you can lightly slit the burger to see if it is still pink inside - try to aim for minimal pinkness.

Two crucial things for this recipe (don’t skip out on these steps/ingredients!): Sauteeing the onions and mushrooms before adding them to your burger mixture is a crucial step. This allows for the flavors to really get absorbed into the burger. Make sure you’re using pepperoncini peppers! They have a flavor profile that is slightly sweet but a little tangy that really pairs well with the other ingredients. In my opinion, they’re one of the best peppers out there! You can find these where you find other jarred peppers or vegetables, usually with the pickles and condiments section of the grocery store.

I’m so excited to walk you through the quick and easy steps for making these healthy greek inspired turkey burgers!

Ingredients in these Greek Inspired Turkey Burgers

Ground Turkey: Naturally lower in fat than ground beef, ground turkey is a heart-healthy choice and provides about 25g of protein per serving for this recipe.

Feta Cheese: Crumbled feta cheese, fat-free or regular - your preference!

Veggies: Caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms, spinach, and pepperoncini peppers! I love the sweetness the peppers give and the savory flavors from the carmelized onions. Top with some greens, olives, and tomatoes!

Burger Buns: Any buns you like. I love whole wheat buns or sesame seed buns.

How to Make these Greek Inspired Turkey Burgers

Step One: First thing is to saute up the onions and mushrooms, this will add a ton of flavor to the burgers and help them be juicier!

Step Two: Combine all the burger ingredients, the onions, mushrooms, feta, pepperoncini peppers, spinach, and ground turkey. Use your hand to mix it all together until fully combined.

Step Three: Form the mixture into burger patties, using about ½ cup of the mixture per burger.

Step Four: Heat the stove on medium high and cook all the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, using a lid so they really cook through. We don’t want any pinkness. If you’re cooking on the grill, heat to 450° F and cook 5-7 minutes per side. Either method, the burgers should be 165° F to be fully cooked through.

Step Five: Serve on a bun with your choice of toppings, I recommend a slice of tomato, some olives, and a small handful of greens!
