Chocolate Protein Yogurt Bowl

    Yogurt bowls are my absolute favorite breakfast. I’m not kidding, I eat this same bowl 90% of the year, it’s that good. This chocolate protein yogurt bowl is made with 5 simple ingredients and is loaded with protein to keep you full for hours.


    A quick and easy breakfast that I make for myself probably five out of seven days of the week is this chocolate protein yogurt bowl. Made with just five ingredients - greek yogurt, chocolate protein powder, frozen wild blueberries, nut butter, and granola, this yogurt bowl is so easy you could make it in your sleep! Which is particularly helpful if you’re strapped for time in the morning and need something quick to make before healing out the door for the day. Additionally this chocolate protein yogurt bowl is great made ahead of time to grab and go in the morning.

    I’m going to share with you my fool-proof chocolate protein yogurt bowl recipe that will make you want to ditch the overly processed yogurts ASAP. It’s super high in protein that will leave you feeling full until your next snack or meal. Sweet breakfast lovers will rejoice with this recipe!

    Move aside oatmeal, this yogurt bowl is going to give you a run for its money.

    Ingredients in this Chocolate Protein Yogurt Bowl

    Plain Greek Yogurt: I use 0% fat plain Greek yogurt from Trader Joe’s or Fage as I find that the thickness of them is very desirable. Feel free to use any type of Greek yogurt here that you want, but stick with plain as there are other dominating flavors in this recipe.

    Chocolate Protein Powder: I use grass-fed beef chocolate protein from Amazon for this recipe. I’ve tried almost every protein powder under the sun and have come to love this beef protein for two reasons, 1. It does not upset my dairy-sensitive stomach and 2. The texture is on point. But feel free to use whatever chocolate protein powder that matches your dietary needs.  

    Frozen Blueberries: The frozen wild blueberries are my blueberries of choice here. The smallness of them allows for a crunch that doesn’t explode in your mouth or give you a brain freeze! You can find these in the freezer aisle of many grocery stores - look for the “wild” on the label so you know they’ll be the teeny ones.

    Granola: Any type of granola here will work, just be sure to use about ¼ cup for a good topping ratio. But honestly, you-do-you and the more granola the merrier! I like Trader Joe’s peanut butter protein granola for an extra dose of protein and the texture/flavors are so yummy! I am a huge chocolate peanut butter fan, anyone else?!

    Any Nut Butter: Just a drizzle of your favorite nut butter. PB2 sprinkled on top is also a favorite and lower-fat option if that’s what you’re looking for. I love Justin’s Almond Butter or any nut butter from Trader Joe’s!

    Kitchen Tools Needed for this Recipe

    • Small cereal bowl and spoon
    • Measuring cups

    How to Make this Chocolate Protein Yogurt Bowl

    Step One: Measure out approximately 220g or 1 cup of yogurt into a small cereal bowl.

    Step Two: Add in a half scoop of chocolate protein powder (approx. 15g) and mix together with a spoon until fully combined.

    Step Three: Add in ¼ cup of the frozen wild blueberries. (Option to microwave the blueberries separately for 15-20 seconds for a warmer blueberry). Scatter the blueberries on top of the yogurt mixture.

    Step Four: Sprinkle ¼ cup of your favorite granola on top.

    Step Five: Drizzle 1 tbsp of almond butter, or your nut butter of choice, across the top of the yogurt.

    Step Six: Option to either mix it all together or leave the toppings separate, either way – enjoy!

    Ingredients:


    Directions:

    1. Add the yogurt into a small cereal bowl.
    2. Add in the chocolate powder and mix together until fully combined.
    3. Sprinkle the frozen wild blueberries and granola on top of the yogurt.
    4. Drizzle 1 tbsp of almond butter across the top of the yogurt.
    5. Mix or eat as is!
    Notes:
    1. Can sub for powdered peanut butter if looking for a lower in fat option. Just use 1 scoop (12g) and sprinkle on top or mix in.
    2. Can sub for any nut butter you prefer!
    3. If you want warmer blueberries, microwave in a separate bowl for 15-20 seconds before adding to your yogurt bowl.
