Shrimp, garlic, scallions, red peppers, and barbeque sauce combined into deliciously juicy burgers! Pescartarian-friendly, gluten-free, and dairy-free burgers for your next summer BBQ!
Who else is getting pumped for warmer weather? I love barbeque season! Fresh air, the smell of the grill, the sun warming your skin, it doesn't get any better than that! Well now it can, with these delicious barbeque shrimp burgers! These are pretty easy to make and are a great option for when you’re craving a burger but want something light and fresh.
I love pairing my shrimp burgers with a whole wheat bun, a drizzle of extra barbeque sauce, tomato, and some mixed greens.
What Ingredients are Needed for Barbeque Shrimp Burgers?
Shrimp: I used frozen cooked, peeled, and tail off shrimp that I thawed in a bath of warm water for a few minutes. Tip: make sure you’re weighing the shrimp to 1.5lbs when they are thawed, not frozen.
Scallions, Minced Garlic, Red Pepper: 2 scallions, ¼ cup of chopped red pepper, and 1 tbsp of minced garlic pulverized together in the food processor as part of our shrimp burger filling.
Lemon Juice: Fresh or from a bottle (but make sure it’s not from concentrate or have any added sugars).
Barbeque Sauce: Any barbeque sauce you like! I used Trader Joe’s Carolina Gold.

How to Make Barbeque Shrimp Burgers
Step One: Puree half of the shrimp in a food processor until pulverized and then transfer to a large bowl.
Step Two: Puree the garlic, bell pepper, scallions, lemon juice, BBQ sauce, salt and pepper. Add to the bowl with the processed shrimp.
Step Three: Roughly chop the remaining shrimp into about ¼ inch pieces and add to the bowl with the other ingredients. Mix with a spatula until all ingredients are fully combined.
Step Four: Using your hands, form into 5 equal-sized patties and place in the fridge to chill and set for 1 hour. Be sure not to skip the chilling time or else the burgers will fall apart when cooking!
Step Five: Heat coconut oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp burgers and cook on each side for approximately 5-6 minutes.
Step Six: Assemble the shrimp burgers on your bun with desired toppings and enjoy!
